Entrevista com Ross Lovegrove

Em Setembro último, a CNN entrevistou o designer industrial londrino Ross Lovegrove, conhecido pelas suas soluções limpas e orgânicas, com linhas fluidas e aparentando uma fusão natural e suave com a função. A CNN falou com ele sobre algumas das suas criações como as garrafas de água, os carros em forma de bolha e a sua abordagem pessoal do design.

Pequena biografia:

Nasceu em 1958, em Cardiff, País de Gales. Licenciado em design industrial pelo Politécnico de Manchester, em 1980. Mestre em design, em 1983, pelo Royal College of art, de Londres. Entre muitos outros sítios, trabalhou para a Frog design; airbus; kartell; ceccotti; cappellini; idee; moroso; luceplan; dríade; peugeot; apple computers; issey miyake; vitra; olympus; yamagiwa corporation; tag heuer; hackman; alias; herman miller; japan airlines; etc.

“CNN: How would you describe what you do?

Ross Lovegrove: What am I? I'm a designer, but of course that's a loose term these days. And often when I meet people and say I'm a designer, they say, "Oh, a fashion designer." Which is not a bad thing I suppose, a bit groovy.

But I'm a designer and I work with industry, so I suppose I'm an industrial designer. It's not as grimy, not as deep and dark as that sounds, 'cause industry these days is very different.

I'm also a humanist and I'm a sort of evolutionist in some ways, because what I do conforms to the concept of evolution, progress, adaptation within the field of making objects that we use everyday.
